FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q1.How is this different from just searching Google?
The AI Research Agent searches multiple sources simultaneously, reads the content, and synthesizes it into a structured report — summary, key points, sources, and actionable next steps. You get the distilled insight without reading 10 tabs.
Q2.How is this different from Perplexity?
Same core idea — web search + AI summarization — but free with no usage limits on the basic tier. Perplexity charges $20/month for Pro. ToolForge uses Tavily for web search and your local GPU (or Groq as fallback) for summarization.
Q3.Is my search query stored?
ToolForge does not store your queries. The query is sent to Tavily's API for search and to the AI model for summarization, then discarded. Review Tavily's privacy policy at tavily.com for their data practices.
Q4.What AI model generates the summary?
The agent first tries a local model running on a GPU (Kobold). If unavailable, it falls back to Llama 3.3 70B via Groq. The source is shown in the report header.
Q5.Why does it sometimes take 10-15 seconds?
The agent performs a real-time web search (2-4s), fetches and reads multiple pages, then runs AI summarization (3-8s). The result is a fresh, current report — not cached or pre-generated content.
Q6.What kinds of queries work best?
Specific questions and topics work best: "How does X work", "Best strategies for Y", "What is Z and why does it matter". Very broad queries like "technology" return generic results. The more specific the query, the more useful the report.
